Our Story
Tapley Cove Oyster Company is a family-owned and operated oyster farm based in Brooksville, cultivating oysters in the pristine waters of the Maine coast. Founded in 2023, the farm brings together generations of connection to the water with a fresh, hands-on approach to aquaculture. Every oyster reflects the unique character of the local environment — clean, briny, and distinctly Maine.

Joe Tapley
Co-Owner | Farm Operations & Sales
Joe’s local roots run deep—he is an 11th-generation descendant of the Brooksville Tapley family, with a lineage dating back to 1777. Born and raised just a short distance from Tapley Cove, Joe’s coastal childhood helped shape his lifelong connection to the area. After spending forty years away, he returned home in 2019 — a homecoming he considers a true gift.
With many of his ancestors having made their living on the ocean, Joe carries that legacy forward in his work today. He leads sales efforts while overseeing all farm operations, including the cultivation, harvesting, and processing of the farm’s oysters.
Joe holds certifications in food safety and quality, ensuring the highest standards in every aspect of production.
Captain Kristen
Co-Owner | Tours, Events & Operations
Kristen Greer married into this life and hasn’t looked back since.
Drawn to Maine’s coastal lifestyle and the energy of the working waterfront, she has embraced both fully. In 2025, she earned her captain’s license and completed extensive training in aquaculture and on-the-water safety.
Kristen leads Tapley Cove’s oyster farm tours, oversees catering operations, and manages the business behind the scenes. Her passion, attention to detail, and ability to connect with guests help shape every experience — from time on the water to events on shore.
